24 April Update

This Friday, April 24, Progreso Relief completed our third week of delivering food baskets to hungry families in Progreso and Chicxulub. As of today, we have helped to feed over 500 families.

However, we still have more than 500 on our list. Our goal is to help all of them over the next 2-3 weeks. Because the local and state governments are also now delivering aid, we have modified our food basket to complement what the government is providing. This has decreased the cost of each food basket, thus enabling us to help more families.

We are relying on the hard work of several local tiendas who are purchasing and packaging the food baskets. Working with three van drivers, we are able to safely deliver almost 300 baskets per week! And thanks to continued support provided by Kelly Gordon Roscoe, we are also delivering much needed masks with each food basket.

Thanks to all of you who have donated to this effort! If you wish to support Progreso Relief, donations are still being accepted. We hope to be able to continue to provide food relief during the economic shutdown currently planned to end May 30.
